Taiwan boasts many hospitals and health facilities that are doing amazing work in reducing their environmental impact. With 19 member hospitals and health systems in the country, the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals  Asia team recently visited Taiwan to learn about the projects and strategies that GGHH members are implementing to achieve their agenda goals.GGHH ForumWith the support of Taiwan's Health Promoting Hospitals (HPH) Network, the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals Forum was held on September 24 at the Taiwan Adventist Hospital. Each and every institution, regardless of its size or location, can play a crucial role in addressing climate change by building resilience at the facility, system, and community level while helping to prevent the problem by reducing the health sector's footprint. That's why we've created the Health Care Climate Challenge —an initiative designed to engage and equip health care institutions worldwide to commit to effective climate action.

Race to Zero is a global campaign initiated by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to rally leadership and support from non-state actors for a zero-carbon recovery. The initiative aims to prevent future threats, foster job creation, and unlock inclusive, sustainable growth. It mobilizes a coalition of leading net-zero initiatives across cities, regions, businesses, investors, and universities to take rigorous and immediate action to halve global emissions by 2030 and deliver a healthier, fairer zero-carbon world.

Integrating public health into this framework can contribute to a democratized vision of a Just Transition that is tightly bound to community health, social equity, and planetary survival. To accomplish this, Just Transition needs to be examined from a service systems perspective – one that emphasizes health care and wellbeing. This will ascertain the interlinkages between human health and planetary health, social well-being, prosperity, justice, and equity.
